Meet the Head Coach: Keith Johnston

Keith received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kent State University majoring in Physical Education. He has worked in the Gymnastics and Cheerleading Industry since 1978. Keith has taught tumbling, stunting, and choreography classes as well as seminars throughout the United States.

In 1992, he started Northeast Ohio All-Stars, the first All-Star Cheerleading Gym in Ohio. Keith was an inaugural member of the NACCC (National Association Cheerleading Coaches Congress). The NACC helped start the United States All-Star Federation (USASF), the governing body of today's All-Star Cheerleading Industry. Mr. Johnston has judged at the local, state and national levels for many years and was a Head Judge at Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia for numerous years.

Keith has coached cheerleading at the high school and collegiate levels for over 15 years. Coaching at the University of Mount Union for 6 years and Hiram College for 2 years. During the 2018-2019 season, he was the Assistant Coach at Kent State University.

For the 2019-2020 season, Keith Johnston stepped up as Head Coach of Kent State University. Along with his duties as Head Coach, he owns and operates Keith's Tumbling Academy, specializing in competitive cheerleading instruction for all levels throughout the state.
